These are just a few of the many features to be found in Downloader Pro. For full details please see the online help pages or better still, download the trial version and see for yourself how Downloader Pro will transform the way you handle your digital images.

Please note: Downloader Pro is only available for Windows:
Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP

Downloader Pro will also work with any DCF compliant camera (e.g. Fuji, Nikon, Olympus, Minolta) and a card reader. A DCF compliant camera stores images in folders with names like \DCIM\101CANON or \DCIM\123NIKON.

WHAT´S NE
W IN V1.2?

  • This release adds support for raw files from Fuji, Olympus, Pentax and Minolta cameras. New tokens have been added to extract portions of the image number (%r1, %r2 and %r3) to make it easier to generate unique filenames when naming files using the date and time e.g. %d_%t_%r1 will give unique filenames like 031108_154532_3.JPG even when continuous shooting with a fast 8fps camera like the Canon EOS-1D.
  • Also new in this release is the ability to set the flash exposure compensation (FEC) for the Canon EOS 300D/Digital Rebel. The camera fully supports FEC except that it isn't possible to adjust the setting using the camera's controls. Downloader Pro can now set the FEC by connecting the camera using a USB cable and selecting "Camera settings" from the File menu.

WHAT´S NEW IN V1.3?

  • View thumbnails of images to be downloaded
  • Gain even greater control when automatically sorting images as they are downloaded
  • Use the camera model name mapping function to give meaningful names identifying the camera used to take pictures e.g. when different members of the family have their own camera this function can be used to download images to separate directories e.g. D:\Photos\JohnsPro1, D:\Photos\SuesD70
  • Simplify workflow by automating the creation of sets of related directories for each download directory e.g. Vacation2004\originals, Vacation2004\working, JobXYZ\final (using the new Directory Maker plug-in)
  • Download raw images from Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Minolta, Fuji, Pentax and Sony cameras and use shooting data for directory and image naming. Supported cameras include the new Canon EOS-1D Mark II, Canon PowerShot Pro1, Nikon D70, Minolta DiMAGE A2, Olympus C8080WZ and Sony DSC-F828
  • Play WAV or AVI files

WHAT´S NEW IN V1.4.1?

  • Improved camera settings dialog for Canon PowerShot cameras connected via a USB cable: owner string can be set and setting the camera time from the PC should work with more cameras in different time zones
  • Now works with Windows XP AutoPlay and Canon EOS-1D Mark II raw files (please select Events -> Register for AutoPlay to update this)
  • Includes support for more raw formats e.g. Kodak DCR, Sigma X3F (no shooting data though)
  • IPTC data can be added to the THM files that accompany Minolta and Olympus raw files (and this data can be accessed using BreezeBrowser v2.10 alpha 2).
  • Fixes problems Downloader Pro v1.4 had connecting directly to some Canon PowerShot cameras
  • Improved reading of shooting data from images from Nikon cameras

WHAT´S NEW IN V1.4.2?

This is a minor update to Downloader Pro v1.4.1 which fixes a problem with IPTC data in Canon EOS-1D, 1Ds, 1D Mark II and Nikon raw files.

WHAT´S NEW IN V1.5?

This release adds support for downloading directly from the Canon EOS 20D and 1D Mark II and other cameras. With the 1D Mark II it will from both the SD and the CF cards.

Also in this release are new tokens which return the date offset by 3 hours. This is useful when shooting evening events which run past midnight and you want to download all the images to the same dated folder.

This release also includes support for downloading Panasonic DMC-LC1 and Leica Digilux 2 raw files including the ability to use the shooting data for naming files and folders.

WHAT´S NEW IN V1.61?

  • Now stores the last 12 download paths and job codes for easy reuse
  • Adds a token display showing the values of each token to make it easier to identify which token to use
  • Adds a second token (%T9) for more flexible camera mapping e.g. allowing camera specific file renaming and download directory specification
  • Adds support for raw files from the Konica Minolta Maxxum 7D and Epson R-D1 using a card reader
  • Fixes the problem with different time zones when setting the clock on Canon EOS cameras

WHAT´S NEW IN V1.70?
New! Backup plug-in to protect your images by making a second copy as they are downloaded.
New! Automatically synchronize the clock of your Canon camera with the clock on your PC. This makes it easy to ensure your camera is always set to the right time and avoid annoying problems like forgetting to change the clock when Daylight Saving Time ends. It can also be used to ensure the clocks on several cameras are all synchronized to the PC's time and date.

Note: Downloader v1.5 is still available and will continue to be free

BREEZE DOWNLOADER for Canon Digital Cameras (WIN 98/ME/2000/XP)

V1.X is a free utility for downloading images from your Canon digital camera via the USB cable or from any DCF compliant camera via a cardreader. Unlike ZoomBrowser this utility downloads all the images, including the .thm files which accompany raw files, and preserves their names. This means that raw files can be acquired into your image editor from your computer using Canon's TWAIN driver. There is also an option to extract EXIF data and store it in a text file for each image. Note: This utility only downloads files from your camera or card reader. It doesn't provide any method of viewing the files and is simply an alternative to using Canon's software.

Downloader has been tested with the Canon Powershot G1, Powershot G2, Powershot Pro90IS, Powershot S30, Powershot S40, EOS D30 and EOS D60 cameras and it should work with other Canon digital cameras provided you have v3.4.x or later of Canon's USB TWAIN driver loaded. Users have reported that it also works with the Canon Digital IXUS, IXUS 300, IXUS V, IXUS 330, A10 and A20.

WHAT´S NEW?

  • Added support for the latest Canon cameras - Canon EOS 1D, Canon S200 and Canon S330
  • Note: Downloader does not work properly with the Canon EOS 1D connected to the FireWire port when shooting in Raw+JPEG mode.
  • Added support for downloading from external storage devices e.g. the Digital Wallet and MindStor from Minds@Work
  • Added a workaround for the Daylight Saving Time (DST) bug in Canon's SDK which resulted in the file timestamp being one hour different from the time the picture was taken when DST is in force

NEW IN V1.5a BETA2:

  • Added support for X-Drive and PicturePad
  • Added warning if download directory is on the same drive as the source directory
  • Added image source display
  • Fixed problem with BreezeBrowser integration when BreezeBrowser isn't running and custom button is set to "Link button to BreezeBrowser"

USB DOWNLOAD NOTE:
Please ensure that the free space on the drive containing your Windows temp directory is at least as big as your CF card. This is because the Canon library creates a temporary file for each file downloaded via the USB cable. This is a bug in Canon's library which also affects ZoomBrowser.

V1.5a BETA2

BREEZE RemoteCapture for Canon Powershot G1 and Pro90 IS (WIN 98/ME/2000/XP)

Canon's remote capture software bundled with the G1, G2 and Pro90 only gives access to some of the features of the camera. RemoteCapture gives far more control and allows virtually all of the camera's settings to be controlled including exposure mode, shutter speed and aperture where applicable. In fact the only 'useful' settings which can't be controlled remotely are manual focus, custom white balance and the display data on the LCD monitor (or video out connection).

RemoteCapture has been updated to include basic support for the Powershot G2. This gives the same degree of control as for the G1 and Pro90IS but does not include live viewfinder display. An updated version which will include G2 live viewfinder display and support for the new S30 and S40 cameras is planned for December/January.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Extensive control over exposure: Auto, Program, Shutter priority (Tv), Aperture priority (Av) and full manual exposure modes, exposure compensation, flash exposure compensation, white balance and ISO settings
  • Histogram display to verify exposure
  • Time lapse control complete with optional power down feature between shots (example of a daffodil blooming [link to WWW.BREEZESYS.COM])
  • Large 640x480 image display for better assessment of composition, focus etc.
  • Display optimised for laptops - will fit on an 800x600 screen
  • All settings saved and restored the next time the program is run
  • Option to automatically store photos in separate directories for each year/month/day
  • Downloads .crw and .thm files in raw mode (compatible with TWAIN driver)

RemoteCapture for Canon Powershot G1 and Powershot Pro90 IS digital cameras allows the camera to be operated remotely from a PC via a USB cable. It offers far more control over the camera's settings than Canon's remote capture application bundled with the camera.
Applications include:

  • Copy work - Precise control of camera's settings. All settings saved when application exits and restored when it is next run.
  • Studio photography - Full manual control of the camera. Shots are displayed on the screen quickly to assess composition, focus, colour etc. Limitations: no live viewfinder display, no manual focus
  • Remotely operated vehicles - Full control of the camera. Shots are displayed on the screen quickly. Limitations: no live viewfinder display
  • Wildlife photography - No beep to frighten the subject away!
  • Landscape photography - Av and Manual settings give creative control over the aperture, histogram display allows accurate assessment of exposure.
  • Timelapse photography e.g. clouds scudding across a landscape or a flower blooming

Unfortunately it is not possible to have manual control of focus when the G1, G2 or Pro90 is operating in remote mode. It is also not possible to display a realtime viewfinder display on the LCD monitor or the video out connection when the camera is in remote mode. These are limitations in the design of the camera which hopefully Canon will address in future cameras.

LIMITATIONS: The unregistered version of the software will not save photos taken at the higher resolutions but is otherwise fully functional. See the online help for full details of the program.

BREEZE G2Remote for Canon Powershot G2, S30 and S40 (WIN 98/ME/2000/XP)

Canon's remote capture software bundled with the G1, G2 and Pro90 only gives access to some of the features of the camera. RemoteCapture gives far more control and allows virtually all of the camera's settings to be controlled including exposure mode, shutter speed and aperture where applicable. In fact the only 'useful' settings which can't be controlled remotely are manual focus and custom white balance.

G2Remote v1.0 is now available for download and supports the Powershot G2, S30 and S40 cameras. This is a complete rewrite of the original G1 and Pro90 RemoteCapture program and includes live viewfinder display, video out or LCD display, digital zoom, image rename and full size image preview. G2Remote uses the same license key as RemoteCapture and so if you have already bought RemoteCapture you may also use G2Remote.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Extensive control over exposure: Auto, Program, Shutter priority (Tv), Aperture priority (Av) and full manual exposure modes, exposure compensation, flash exposure compensation, white balance and ISO settings
  • Live viewfinder display (G2Remote with G2, S30 or S40 only)
  • Histogram display to verify exposure
  • Time lapse control complete with optional power down feature between shots (example of a daffodil blooming [link to WWW.BREEZESYS.COM])
  • Large 640x480 image display for better assessment of composition, focus etc.
  • All settings saved and restored the next time the program is run
  • Option to automatically store photos in separate directories for each year/month/day
  • Downloads .crw and .thm files in raw mode (compatible with TWAIN driver)
  • Interface library and example program with full source code (Download: G2RemoteTest.zip)

WHAT´S NEW IN V1.2?

  • Overlay grid now has separate horizontal and vertical settings and is displayed in the live viewfinder display
  • Added option to blank the screen when taking a photo to avoid light from the monitor affecting the lighting setup
  • Rotation information is now stored in raw and JPEG files

LIMITATIONS: The unregistered version of the software will not save photos taken at the higher resolutions but is otherwise fully functional. See the online help for full details of the program.

G2Remote Interface Library

G2Remote v1.1a includes an interface to allow other programs to communicate with it when it is running. This allows the shutter to be released, the lens to be zoomed and the shutter and aperture to be set. This opens up many exciting possibilities including: using the camera as a webcam, more flexible time lapse sequences including zooming the lens during the sequence, automatic bracketing of shots by adjusting the shutter or aperture, wildlife shots triggered by externally interfaced motion sensors or beams of light etc.

The library comes in the form of a DLL which can be used by applications written in almost any programming language. Also included is an example program with full source written in VC++. The example program is included as an executable and can be run directly from the command line to run the camera as a webcam or adjust the shutter speed, aperture and zoom settings and trigger the shutter.

EXIF UTILITIES

A free Perl script for extracting EXIF information from JPEGs written by Canon Powershot cameras and the EOS D30.
Latest version: v1.5, 17 September 2001 (see script header for release history).

NOTE: To run this script you need a Perl interpreter e.g. ActivePerl for Windows available free from www.activestate.com

BREEZE D30Remote (WIN 98/ME/2000/XP)

Chris writes: "D30Remote is a unique application which gives you almost total control of your Canon EOS D30 from a PC. Full control from the camera is retained and you can choose to take photos from the D30 or from the PC. Your photos are automatically downloaded to the PC and displayed in a large preview window. Photos are saved on the PC's hard disk and can also be saved on the CF card in the camera. A full size preview window is also provided which can be preset to display a critical area of the photo e.g. the eyes and face of your model during a portrait shoot.
The time-lapse feature allows the number of photos in a sequence and the interval between shots to be specified. D30Remote also includes a DLL and a sample program which allows other applications to release the camera's shutter. This opens up many exciting possibilities such as movement or sound sensors being used to trigger the camera for taking wild-life shots.
D30Remote works best on PCs with a resolution of 1024x768 pixels or more. An innovative "preview-priority" feature means that D30Remote can be used on screens as small as 800x600 pixels."

WHAT´S NEW IN V1.3?

  • Optional screen blanking when taking photos to prevent light from the computer display affecting the lighting setup
  • Stored images now include rotation information (requires EXIF aware applications such as BreezeBrowser to view JPEGs correctly rotated)
  • Optional to automatically load images in your image editor

ANY LIMITATIONS?
Unless registered, D30Remote will only allow four photos to be saved to disk before it has to be restarted (unlimited previews are allowed).

NOTE:
If you are upgrading from a previous version please uninstall the old version first (you shouldn't need to re-enter you registration code).

Also available: A DLL allowing other applications to trigger the D30's shutter when running D30Remote. This includes the DLL, header file a sample command line program and Visual C++ 6 project.
